Take away the leveling process, and all you have is another shooter/action/whatever game that validates the question, "why the hell do you even bother with RPGs?"

The ability to grow stronger with every enemy one kills. What separates the RPG genre from every other genre is its leveling process choices have never been part of the RPG genre per-se, and combat systems come with all styles of genres. IMO it's good of the producers to make the game playable by casual players aswell as veterans, I just don't think they need to make it THAT casual that it gets boring for veterans. You can see it as whining, or being an FFXIfan, being nostalgic, or not being able to move on, it's just that this fast-paced way of playing doesn't suit me as well. I liked the simple party leveling of a party vs 1 to 3 mobs.ĭon't missinterpretate me though, I still think FFXIV can be a fun game because there are still alot of fun elements in it. What I miss is hard work that you have to bring in the game, what you *could* define as dedication and not fighting 12 mobs each fight and receiving almost 1000 xp or more each kill. It might be worth it more to try to really understand what the person means instead of simply labeling people in a certain category and not think more of it. Although I still wish for that.Īlso it's quite easy to put one person's post in a mainstream thought or collection of posts, comments, whatever people have brought up. It's not like I'll meet anyone IRL in the close future which I play FFXIV with. Not everybody is as social as the other and only socializing with people in-game isn't going to be enough for me to keep playing the game. I usually have a goal I want to get to and I don't like to waste time to get to it. Also, I don't like playing a game only to socialize, or socialize continually, I'm an active player and always want something to do when playing a game. Sure I have fun playing in big parties, working together to defeat the hardest dungeons in speedruns and defeating primals, but it has it's limits and not everybody works well together. The only one thing that bugs me is the fast-paced combat and leveling because you can run through all jobs in a whim. In my opinion, the passes to get everywhere and the quests to unlock new jobs and gear wasn't absolutely neccesary. I feel like the fast-paced gameplay and the fast leveling is more accomodated to casual players and doesn't really give the same feel FFXI did, by taking time to level.

I haven't even beaten speedruns in the latest dungeons, primals on extreme, gotten a relic or beat White Raven at his best. Ofcourse you can see it as challenging to do dungeons, defeat primals and all that needs alot of teamwork. Sure making it more casual is good so it will attract more people, but it also makes the game lose favour to the people who have seen it all. I'm just dissapointed how casual they made FFXIV. I didn't mean that level meant talent, dedication, skill etc.
